Berkeley: Ten Speed Press, A zany and lively recollection of experiences by Luba Gurdjieff, who was raised at her uncle G. Gurdjieff's spiritual school in France. Uncle George's recipes and kitchen aplomb appear to have caught hold of her, as she went on to become a noted restaurateur in London Luba's Bistro.
Her recollections are full of some delightful stories about Gurdjieff, the usual sprinkling of peppered accounts being publicly aired, and a saucy rendition of life at the Prieure as seen through his young niece's eyes.
Contains many of Luba's recipes, including her memory of Gurdjieff's 'Special Salad'. Recounting her father's death in Gurdjieff's Paris flat, Luba recalled Gurdjieff telling her: "Now my children, you have one hour to cry, then it's finished. I don't want anybody to cry after that. I don't want any black. He gone; he's happy; everybody else be happy.
He said you must not mourn the dead for more than an hour like that. When it's your time to go, you must go, and that is it. Paperback in new condition.
