LOGEMANN EVALUATION AND TREATMENT OF SWALLOWING DISORDERS PDF

Each description of the disorders in oropharyngeal swallowing is accompanied by illustrations of the radiographic view. The text also provides the clinician with techniques for management of various swallowing disorders typically seen in neurologically impaired clients and individuals who have been treated for head and neck cancer. Logemann developed the modified barium swallow test, a less stressful alternative to a typical radiographic study of swallowing, which encourages patient participation and allows for treatment of swallowing problems in the x-ray room. Logemann's research interests include the management of voice disorders, normal swallowing physiology, the assessment and treatment of speech and swallowing dysfunction in treated head and neck cancer patients and neurologically-impaired individuals.
