By Hannah Howell. Angus MacReith scowled at the young man towering over his bed. Artan Murray was big, strongly built, and handsome. His cousin had done well, he thought. Far better than all his nearer kin who had borne no children at all or left him with ones like young Malcolm.

Artan had two opportunities to kill the bad guy and didn't so everyone was in preilous danger at the end. Artan was hot and had a great sense of humor. Cecily was ok very niave at times. The bad guys were bad, but it seemed to settle fast without explanation at the end. Good read but not great.
The hero Artan is one of the second generation Murrays and the heroine Cecily is the niece of his Highlander foster father, a distant relation.
Artan is also a twin. For some reason, my last few books have all featured twins!!! Artan was asked by his foster father to bring Cecily to him and dangling his lairdship as a lure if he marries Cecily. But w 3 stars. But when Artan finds her in the midst of preparing for her wedding to an English knight, he charms and then kidnaps her back to the highlands, with the Englishman in high pursuit.
I found both Artan and Cecily's characters a bit wishy-washy. It's enough of an entertaining tale but I got to say they could have routed the villain a lot sooner rather than dragging it out. Dec 15, Tami rated it it was amazing Shelves: romance. This book pleased me very much.
Even though Artan is the only one in the series to marry an actual cousin distant or not.. Cecily is kind of irritating at times, but I love her fire and 'unladylike' tendencies. Artan has been a favorite character in the series and I was excited to finally get to his.
THIS story fit his character very well. Unlike the one with his brother.. He kept his usual arrogance and wildness as well as his This book pleased me very much. He kept his usual arrogance and wildness as well as his sarcasm.. Courting the girl away from her betrothed and then kidnap her is exactly the type of thing Artan Murray would do.
The love between Artan and his Sile was strongly felt, I think more than any other story in the series so far. The way she kept talking to him while he was in a coma until her voice was almost gone was so touching. There was so much I loved about this story, i don't even know where to start.. I will just simply say it was a good read!!! Mar 10, Jultri rated it liked it Shelves: promised-to-another , traumatised-heroine , highlander. Entertaining story with at times amusing dialogue, although not dreadfully deep.
The hero is a caricature of brawny warrior, who has almost superhuman abilities to defeat the endless stream of assassins sent his way in cartoonish fighting scenes without his kilt going askew.
Well, except for the one time when he nearly died fighting ten or so opponents, because the eight sent the previous attack did not do much more than mess up his locks. The heroine is a wee bit muddled about a lot of things, Entertaining story with at times amusing dialogue, although not dreadfully deep. The heroine is a wee bit muddled about a lot of things, which to be fair is partly due to being brought up by crazed and abusive relatives. However, it still got a bit tedious with her swinging like pendulum for and against the hero and switching personalities like undies.
I do like the uncle, Angus, who is a more consistent and warm character. All in all, it was enjoyable without being engrossing. Thank you to NetGalley for providing me the opportunity to review this, although my opinion is my own.
Lowlands and Highlands Sex : explicit, reasonably frequent. First complete time post handfast. Heroine : Abused from around the age of 10 by guardian " A sheltered lass who has been convinced that she is worthkess gets to come to this beautiful spot, in the moonlight, and have the handsomest mon she has e'er seen not only make love to her but steal her away because she is in danger. Series : Book 13 of Howell's Murray series. Book 3 of Cameron family sub-series although sister Isla had her story told in "Highland Groom", cousin Ewan had his in "Highland Warrior".
A good book.. For example, the writing around Cecily's healing is forced and immaterial, and there is text or phrases eating like a piglet repeated from other books.
But the biggest issue I had was the missing plot points. It felt like Howell just didn't bother finishing the book. Malcolm appears MacInvor appears,,, and disappears. The EvilCousins who had such a pivotal role in the beginning Their story, while wrapped up in two sentences during the epilogue, is half-told. What about the priest? What about the jewellery? What was in the carts?
How was it all reclaimed anyway? Even Fergus is a caricature who slips away. It just felt half told.
Toran Lathan never expected to become Laird, and he never expected to meet a woman like Aileanna Shaw. Her healing ability is just what his people need, but Toran cannot resist her beauty.
